INTERNATIONAL SERVICE PROJECT
 
Update: Mobile Health Screening Project - Global Grant 2099338
 
This Global Grant Project was approved in 2020. The Rotary Club of Mangalore was to provide a mobile screening facility which would screen non-communicable diseases (NCD), such as, diabetes and cervical cancer. Location: Mangalore, India. Total funding: $165,110.00
 
The project was supported by Rotary Club of Mangalore, Rotary Club of Silicon Valley Passport (Ramesh Hariharan and Sobha Ramesh), DDF 3181, DDF 6540, and World Fund.
 
Ramesh and Sobha contributed $13,238 (cash) to Global Grant 2099338. The Rotary Foundation matched it 50 percent which made it $19,857.
 
Finally, the mobile clinic was completed! Inauguration - Wednesday January 5, 2022.

Rotary Club of Mangalore Launches ‘Women’s wellness mobile clinic’,
a Mobile cancer detection bus at the cost of Rs 1.25 Crores
 
"The Rotary Club of Mangalore in service to the people of Dakshina Kannada, launches a Mobile women wellness clinic for early detection of Non communicable diseases like Breast Cancer, Cervical Cancer amongst the rural women in our district. The Rotary Club of Mangalore through ‘The Rotary Foundation Global Grant project’ along with Rotary Club of Silicon Valley Passport (USA), RI District 6540 (USA), RI District 3181 is donating a Women's Wellness Clinic bus to Yenepoya Hospital, a premier Hospital Group in Mangalore, for the service to mankind. This humanitarian project by Rotary will save many lives in the days to come.... Oral Cancer, Breast Cancer and Cervical cancer account for 55% of the cancers in India and their early detection and treatment can save the lives of rural women in our district....The screening or any examination done in the bus is free of cost. This cancer detection bus is well equipped with state of the art Mammography machine for breast examination & screening ...This project is aimed at helping the lower income groups."
