Club President
2020 -2021
Rotary Greetings!
The Pandemic challenged us both personally and professionally, testing our core values and our club mission. We, as a club, came together to truly demonstrated what it means by “Service over Self”. I am very proud to be part of this journey and thankful for the opportunity to serve in this transformational year for our club. My sincere thanks to all the club members, board members, friends and family for making this, despite the circumstances, an outstanding year for our club.
Together, at the beginning of the year we established 4 key initiatives under the theme “Easy”. I am excited to report that we have accomplished our goals and set ourselves on path for a greater future. Quick look at what we have done together in the year 2020-2021:
Increase Member Engagement: Initiated several programs like “Know Your Member”, “Monthly Vocational Meeting”, “Rotarian of the Month”, 25% of the members involved directly with a club service project.
Establish a Cornerstone Service Project: We had an amazing year on Service projects. We did 11 projects with 3 international, 8 local community and raised over $30,000 by generous donations of our members.
Membership Growth: In a pandemic year, membership growth was clearly a long shot. We lost few members but with the all your effort, we were able to exit the year with 8% growth in membership and 100% growth in sponsorship of new members by existing members.
Digital Transformation: Established a new communication technology, Slack, enabling members to interact in real-time to share and collaborate on projects, re-designed our website, conformed to Rotary Branding standards, established a tax deductible way to donate for projects via with District 5170 Foundation.
As we all know, things never go as smoothly as we expect. I want to share my special thanks to my fellow Rotarians who stepped-up and took on any tasks that was given with a smile on their face and were always available to help and guide me throughout the year.

In closing, I want to thank our District Governor, Gregg Giusiana and Assistant Governor Katie Cooney, for providing incredible leadership and support through the year.
A warm welcome to our incoming board members and our new president, Krishna Reddy. I look forward to seeing you all soon in-person and celebrate our victory over these tough times.

Rotary Year 2020-2021
I am an incoming freshman at De Anza college. In my free time, I really like to swim, and I also like to help elderly people. I have run a couple of half marathons and have continued running in my free time. For a few years, I have also volunteered for a non - profit organization called Inclusive World. When I was volunteering for Inclusive World, I would help differently abled teens and young adults paint diyas, create cards, and many more. Last year, I came to a Rotary expo and saw the many different projects that Rotary covered. Since then, I have had the thought about joining. As a new member in the Rotary Club, I would like to see what types of projects that I can volunteer and try to see whether there are some Youth Programs that are to my interest.
The Rotary Club of Silicon Valley Passport is a service club dedicated to improving the lives of others both in our community and around the world. As a Rotary Passport Club we encourage our members to engage in service in ways that fit within their work, family, and life commitments.
Dear Members: If you volunteer in other community groups, we want you to become our Rotary ambassador to those groups and let us know how we can work together to support the work of others. Thank you!
Happy Helpers for the Homeless
Bhaggi Emani, our member from Maryland, volunteered with her son at Happy Helpers for the Homeless.
Bhaggi said: "Happy Helpers for the Homeless was started 27 years ago. Amber Coffman (11 years old) began Happy Helpers when she volunteered at a homeless shelter and saw teenagers who were in need of food and shelter. Since then this organization has provided more than a million lunches. Currently, Happy Helpers is providing groceries and toiletries to children who have lost parents to COVID-19."
