From Know Your Members series:
Claudio Bono, Area Hotel General Manager, The Cupertino Hotel & The Grand Silicon Valley, looks forward to welcoming our Rotary club back to The Grand Hotel Silicon Valley in Sunnyvale. He said our Rotary plaque still hangs on the wall.
Mahesh Nihalani (New Channels Chair) has invited us to visit Priya Living once it is safe to gather. He suggested that we should also get together in a park so we can see each other in person (and socially distance).
Update from Innoventure:
Sadhvi Narayanan and Lillian Yu, founders of Innoventure, a nonprofit organization created to help educate low-resourced children around the world, had sent an email earlier this month to give us an update on their projects. (Sadhvi and Lillian were our guest speakers on September 12, 2020.)
"For the past 8 months, we have been volunteering at Akanksha Foundation, a nonprofit organization which provides a network of schools for low income communities throughout India. Through the Akanksha Foundation, we have been teaching "Introduction to Python Programming" to a group of under-resourced middle school and high school children in Pune, India. Many of the students we teach only have access to one mobile phone which is shared amongst their entire family, as well as poor internet connections and low bandwidth. We have learned to adapt to these situations, and overcome challenges in order to provide a strong learning opportunity to these students, regardless of their circumstances. We can teach any group of students programming as long as they have access to any functional single device."
Sadhvi said that she is looking for more opportunities to teach Python Programming to students from low-income communities around the world.
If you have suggestions or connections to assist Sadhvi and Lillian, please contact Jeetu Lakhotia, Club President.

Charu was to present "Fall Colors" (road trip with her daughter) during our California Living social in November 2020, but unable to attend, so I asked her whether I could share her photos in our April newsletter and she agreed. I have put her photos in a collage for our newsletter.
Thank you, Charu for sharing your photos!
Registration is Now Open!
The 2021 Virtual Convention will be better than ever, opening more innovative opportunities to learn and to engage with the family of Rotary, near and far.
You’ll be able to network in virtual lounges, meet new partners in service, and join fun activities with Rotary members from around the world.
World Immunization Week
April 24 - 30, 2021
With decades of experience fighting polio, Rotary plays a key role in informing people about the power and effectiveness of vaccines.
Wild poliovirus remains endemic in only two countries: Afghanistan and Pakistan. But to eradicate it there and to prevent a resurgence in other parts of the world, we must continue to build trust in vaccines and raise funds for polio eradication, including vaccine delivery.
Donate to Rotary’s PolioPlus Fund to help us and our partners deliver polio vaccines to vulnerable children. Your contribution will be tripled, thanks to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
